........ John McCain's recent surprising pick of Sarah Palin as his running mate has opened up a Pandora's box, no pun intended, of questions that I would like to ask her, should the GOP ever get around to letting her grant unscripted interviews. Although there are a myriad of areas that I would like to explore, including her qualifications to be VP (the fact that she is Governor of an oil-rich State excluded), I prefer instead to focus on her rather public demonstration of support for the Republican Party's abstinence only platform plank.
........ Her public acceptance of her family, or should I say family way, situation is worthy of an Oscar nomination! Although she and the GOP spin doctors make it sound as if she greeted Bristol and her beau's "You're going to be a Grandma" revelation with tears of joy and exclamations of love and support, I personally think it was more like "You're what? You idiots! Do you realize what this could do to Sen. McCain's and my chances of being elected? We barely have enough moose meat in the freezer for us as it is, without adding another mouth to feed!"
........ Alright, so I got a little carried away there, but is that scenario really that far fetched? Anyway, getting back to the point of this article, here are the questions I would like to ask Sarah Palin.
........ 1) How old were you when you no longer abstained?
........ 2) Did you ever have to sweat out a possible pregnancy as a result of an abstinence lapse?
........ 3) At 65, even in my relatively diminished capacity, I find it all but impossible to abstain. Why do you believe that teenagers with their raging hormones can?
........ 4) The Catholic Church's abstinence/rhythm method of birth control resulted in many French & Irish families of 10 or more children. Was that a sound policy?
........ 5) Given the fact that a vast majority of unwed teens & their offspring end up on public assistance, how would your policy reduce welfare costs?
........ I'm sure, given more thought, I could come up with more questions. However, I would like to ask my readers to e-mail your suggested questions for Sarah to me. I will then add them to this article. Thanks for reading Frank's Corner.
